The Chamber of Agriculture

The Chamber of Agriculture represents the whole agricultural profession in the department, and acts in the name of leaders elected every six years.

For the last two years, the Gard Chamber of Agriculture has been particularly involved in promoting different kinds of quality agricultural produce with their own original signature "Militant du Goût, le Gard un caractère affirmé" (the Gard, Defenders of Taste with true personality).

The Militant du goût label is a genuine guarantee of quality and seasonal produce and can be found in the wine sections of over twenty-five hypermarkets in the Gard, and will very soon be on controlled origin foods and fresh products (fruit and vegetables) on the prestigious stalls of "Les Halles" - the covered market - in Nîmes.

« Three regions in southwest Europe have created TERRA OLEA, symbol indicating, in touristic regions, the culture of olive trees in their natural environment. Baena (Spain) with its olive groves and its whitewashed farms; the town of Nîmes, between Languedoc and

Provence. with its garrigue hills perfumed by the olive tree; Mirandela (Portugal), with its forest-like aroma in its olive oils. Several Logis de France restaurants in the Gard are associated with this project, and promote quality olive production in their menus.  »
